Physiotherapy For Conditions for Women's Health

Specific Women’s Health Physiotherapy seeks to restore conditions for good health among women, especially those in the child-bearing phases of life.

Health concerns are common among women who have given birth at least once. It is estimated that one woman from every group of 3 is likely to develop urinary incontinence after the birth of a child. Urinary incontinence affects many and is a problem that causes involuntary leakage of urine.

Further statistics indicate that 1 in every 2 women is likely to experience some level of prolapse or what is commonly referred to as a fallen bladder. Prolapse varies from mild to moderate or severe cases and is a condition that causes the bladder to sag and weaken causing discomfort to an individual.

Worse still, up to 25% or more of women attempting a pelvic floor muscle contraction and other therapeutic methods are doing it wrong thus exacerbating the condition. A pelvic floor muscle contraction exercise is a helpful form of treatment to help the patient to better control the bladder and hold it in its rightful place.

There is vast evidence showing the benefits of physiotherapy in improving and curing most of these health symptoms. More specifically, there is hope from scientific evidence backing up the efficiency of physiotherapy in alleviating and treating urinary incontinence, pelvic weaknesses and other conditions in patients. Physiotherapy treatment, however, must be conducted by a specifically trained physiotherapist.
